About IBEW Local 35

In the 25th day of July, 1913, the Hartford, Connecticut Local 35 charter was issued. The charter was signed by W. Adams, B. Day, W. Dermont, C. Johnson, F. Barnes, R. Bradley, A Case, A. Baker, H. Case, and S. Fogarty. These ten men joined together to receive fair wages, ensure job safety and provide trained workers in the electrical industry.

From the beginning, Local 35 provided the opportunity to its members to live the American dream – decent pay and benefits so our members could raise a family with the respect and dignity every American deserves.

Our jurisdiction consists of the following towns:

Union Dues

  • Union dues are an important subject. Just like membership in the Moose, Elks, American Legion, gun clubs, health clubs or any other membership organization, dues are used to run the organization.

  • As responsible adults, we recognize this fact and are willing to contribute our fair share.

  • On the other hand, we don’t want to contribute any more than is needed to accomplish our goals.

  • Our union dues are set by the members at a rate that will enable us to cover all necessary expenses and accomplish our goals.

In the IBEW, the members of each Local Union set their own dues rates through the adoption of the Local By-Laws.

Strict accounting of funds is required by law and expenditures are subject to approval of the members. Financial reports are made at the membership meetings and all records are audited yearly by an outside accounting firm. Local Union Officers who handle funds are bonded to protect the members.
